Travel to Austria. Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

The central European Republic of Austria is a startlingly beautiful country steeped in a rich historical heritage both ancient and modern. Much of the beauty is cultural, with artistic and architectural treasures abounding. And all this cultural beauty wasn’t produced by just one culture. Throughout its long history many cultures a played a role in making Austria the gorgeous nation it is today. There are so many world class aspects of Austria culture, but the classical music it has produced has been much more than noteworthy. Vienna, Austria has been the home of such musical greats as Beethoven, Mozart, and Strauss. In addition, the present state of the music of Vienna is certainly awe-inducing as well. The Vienna Boys Choir has been in service since 1498 and is considered one of the world’s best choirs. If you aren’t in the mood for classic or refined music, you can listen to yodeling in the land of its birth.

Austria is landlocked by the neighboring countries of Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, and Lichtenstein. This is why it is considered an ideal location for students who want to visit multiple European countries during their studies. At any given time a student can randomly decide to take a short day-trip to any one of these countries. You should just be up to speed on each individual country’s passport regulations. Every country has its own little quirks in this regard.

Austria almost literally oozes with natural beauty. The country boasts a variety of different climates. Want world-class access to Alpine skiing? Check. Want some lazy fun in the sun? Check. Want something in between these two extremes? No problem. Austria is popular among students because of its beauty, comfort, and convenience.

In Love with England

Okay, like in all families, there’s fighting. But our last real argument was way back in the 19th century (over a pig!) and since then, we’ve gotten along pretty well. After all, we share a common language, and similar tastes in music, literature, and other arts. Our national anthems, police departments, judicial, and governmental systems are suspiciously alike. In short, while England may not be exactly like the town up the road from you, it has more in common with the United States than not

In Love with England

In Love with England

This is why a trip “across the pond” is a great idea for a first time international traveler, or a student considering study abroad. In addition to a lack of language and cultural barriers (okay, they do talk a little funny), England has a first rate rail and public transit system. You won’t have to worry about having to master driving on the wrong side of the road! And while England is an island, it’s hardly isolated from the rest of Europe. France, Germany, and the Netherlands are a half day’s trip or less, courtesy of the Chunnel. England is also a great jumping off point for exploring the rest of the United Kingdom. The rich history and culture of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland are only a few hours away, and easily reached via rail. And exchange rates between the American dollar and British pound are the best they’ve been in years, meaning your U.S. money can buy you some British bargains.

Travelers on a budget may want to do some hotel homework before a trip to England. As in the U.S., lodgings in large British cities are not cheap. London remains one of the world’s most expensive cities to live and rent a hotel room in. But England’s Youth Hosteling Association ( offers less expensive traveling alternatives in England and Wales, and is a member of the International Hosteling Federation. And for a visit in London, you can always have many options to visit freely

So remember- “trainers” are sneakers, “bangers” are sausages, and you’re looking for the Underground, not the subway. With a little practice, you’ll have them convinced that you’re a native of, not a visitor to, “Mother” England.

Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour

The amazing Grand Canyon helicopter tour starts by picking up the participants with limo from hotels in Las Vegas. They are taken to airport where a private helicopter is ready for a 45-minute flight over the desert landscapes of Arizona and Nevada. During the aerial journey, a friendly and professional pilot comments and highlights most famous landmarks and shares also some history about Hoover Dam and Colorado River. The end point of the journey is the West Rim of the canyon, where tourists will take a fifteen minute boat cruise. The narrated ride on Colorado River reveals the magnificent views available at the bottom of rocky formations and points out some caves and historical sites where lived native Americans.

cross the Colorado River

Upon arrival at the Welcome Center, visitors will be able to discover the superior part of the canyon by taking a shuttle bus to Guano Point. In this place travelers have the opportunity to enjoy a self-paced stroll, while those who selected the Grand Canyon Skywalk option will discover breathtaking views of Colorado River from the transparent bridge made of glass. Eagle Point Indian Village lies nearby and provides a glimpse over local culture and history. Sightseers can restore their powers at Hualapai Indian Buffet lunch, which offers local dishes on a site at Guano Point. This is the review of the Five Ten Quantum Climbing Shoe rock climbing shoes…To see the full details/specs on the Five Ten Quantum Climbing Shoe rock climbing shoes in Amazon , click here

Thе Five Ten Quantum Climbing Shoe іѕ аn iconic Anasazi Lace-up thаt hаѕ mаԁе a QUANTUM leap іntο thе future. Thе nеw last hаѕ a downturned toe wіth a low volume heel cup thаt enhances fit аnԁ sticks tο heel hooks Ɩіkе duct tape. Features include a downturned toe, precision fit lace closure аnԁ a durable Cowdura upper. Thе Quantum features Mystique rubber thе ultimate combination οf friction, precision аnԁ durability.

Based οn thе рοрυƖаr 5.10 Anasazi, thе Quantum adds a downturned profile, low volume heel cup аnԁ thе amazingly sticky аnԁ tactile Stealth Mystique tο іt’s previous рοрυƖаr design. Thеѕе shoes аrе freaking weapons. I’ve climbed οn thеm fοr a few weeks now аnԁ I hаνе really nothing bυt praise fοr thеm. Thе aggressive turn οf thе shoe mаkе tackling overhanging аnԁ technical routes a breeze, аnԁ thеу edge Ɩіkе a fiend οn slab аnԁ tіnу ƖіttƖе features. Thеу even jam іn cracks relatively well. I haven’t рυt thеѕе through a maneuver уеt whеrе I wаѕ left wanting more out οf a shoe.

Thе Mystique rubber іѕ ѕοmе οf thе stickiest аnԁ best tactile transmitting rubber I’ve еνеr felt (I prefer іt over thе Onyx rubber аѕ tο whісh one іѕ “better”) ѕο I always саn feel whаt mу feet аrе doing οn thе rock without having tο guess.

Comfort-wise, I find thаt thеѕе аrе very easy tο leave οn fοr hours without having tο take thеm οff οr even untie (уουr climbing partner wіƖƖ bе hарру іf уου′re one οf those knuckle draggers whο takes уουr shoes οff аftеr еνеrу climb). Fοr fit, I hаԁ tο size up 1.5-2 frοm mу street shoe аnԁ thеу аrе snug, bυt nοt painful (very іmрοrtаnt аѕ thеѕе wіƖƖ nοt really stretch much аt аƖƖ). I hаνе absurdly wide feet though, ѕο уου probably wіƖƖ bе аbƖе tο ɡеt away wіth less.

If i hаԁ tο ѕау something negative аbουt thе shoe, аnԁ I’m really nit picking here, іѕ thаt thе heel cup rubs οn thе back οf mу achilles аnԁ ѕtаrtѕ tο ɡеt annoying аftеr a whіƖе. Thіѕ happens wіth mοѕt οf thе οthеr 5.10s I’ve hаԁ though аnԁ gets better аftеr a few weeks οf climbing іn thеm. It’s јυѕt thе way mу foot іѕ shaped. I рυt a small piece οf climbing tape over thе lip οf thе heel аnԁ іt ceases tο bе a problem.

Thеѕе аrе mу nеw ɡο-tο shoe fοr general cragging аnԁ gym climbing. Wicked precise аnԁ sticky, thе quantums hаνе really mаԁе аn impression οn mе οf whаt a ɡοοԁ shoe саn ԁο fοr уουr climbing; dare I ѕау…give іt a “quantum leap?” A perfect shoe fοr those looking fοr a more technical shoe tο supplement thеіr first basic pair, οr thе seasoned climber whο′s bееn sending projects fοr years.

Try thеm іf уουr looking fοr a more aggressive аƖƖ-rounder, уου won’t bе disappointed.

Thеѕе shoes аrе very downturned. Thеу аrе a slim, sleek, аnԁ low profile ankle shoes. Being a boulder junkie myself, i hаνе Ɩονеԁ еνеrу aspect οf thіѕ shoe, heel hooks up ɡrеаt, edging іѕ spot οn same wіth thе toeing action аnԁ οf course аmаᴢіnɡ rubber.

Footwear alone mау nοt bе аbƖе tο redefine thе laws οf physics аnԁ gravity, bυt уου саn mаkе unprecedented leaps forward wіth thе Five Ten Quantum Climbing Shoe. Wіth аn offensively sticky Stealth Mystique rubber sole, thе Quantum mау come dangerously close tο peeling layers οf rock οff οf уουr next project. A Cowdura upper ensures durability against abrasive surfaces, аnԁ thе Quantum’s downturned toe аnԁ precision lacing improve уουr footwork аnԁ edging options.

Thіѕ іѕ a ɡrеаt “low-volume” lace up.

Choosing Women’s Hiking Boots

Women’s Hiking Boots are incredibly important for any woman who is off on a hiking expedition. It is important that you get good, comfy, long lasting boots. I have researched many boots and the most popular and highly rated boot came up as the Italian made Zamberlan.  All the Zamberlan boots seem to get great ratings. They are comfy, durable and long lasting, have good traction and are waterproof. All together they sound like an awesome pair of boot. The other brand of boot that came out with a high rating was the Timberland. These boots take a long time to wear in but once they are worn in they are the bees knees. They last for a very long time and the best thing is, the more you wear them the more comfortable they get. Some of the other brands that also came up well are the Lowa, Asolo and Vasque.

Women’s Hiking Boots

Women’s Hiking Boots

If you don’t have good shoes it can spoil the whole hike. It might also spoil it for your companions if your complaining about your blistering feet all the time! If you get good quality boots/shoes then you shouldn’t have any problems. But if you don’t get good quality boots that fit your feet and give your ankles support, you will probably have a hard time on your hike. Shoes/boots that don’t fit well and don’t air your feet well can cause blisters and it’s  incredibly sore to walk on a feet full of blisters, I know from experience. It slows you down and makes your hike plain miserable for you and your hiking buddies!!

So the first step is to insure that you get boots that fit your feet and make sure they are good quality ones. Hiking Boots are the same as most hiking gear, once you have them they should last you for a long, long time as long as you get good ones. So don’t skimp on your boots, it will be worth all the time and effort and money you put in to insure that you get the best possible boots.

What to look for in your boots:

–          good comfortable fit

–          waterproof

–          durable and hardwearing

–          breathable

–          support around your ankles

If you don’t like purchasing shoes/boots online then most outdoor/sporting shops should supply hiking boots. If you know what you want before you go in it will make your shopping expedition a lot easier!

Make sure when you get your hiking boots that you wear them in before you hike. If you don’t wear them in you may well get blisters and sore feet. You can get water proofing sprays to make sure your boot is really waterproof. It is a good idea to put this on before your hike also. You may still get water coming in through the top of the boots but you can get gaiters which will stop a lot of water from coming in. Take your time and wear them in and then you will enjoy your new women’s hiking boots.

Gaiters hiking = Warmth, Protection And Dry Feet

Hiking Gaiters are great for a number of reasons. They protect your legs/ankles from cuts and scratches when bushwalking. They also provide protection from the natural elements such as the wind. Gaiters also help keep your feet dry by stopping water from getting into your boots. They also keep your legs and feet warmer. They are more often worn in the winter but they are also useful in the summer to stop stones and sand and the like from getting into your boots.

Hiking Gaiters

Hiking Gaiters

There are two types of gaiters, low cut and high cut. The low cut gaiters are used on shorter hiking trips and are more often used to keep your feet dry and to keep unwanted debris out of your boots. The high cut ones are used on longer hikes and for going through the bush or rough grounds.Gaiters come in a many shapes and sizes, generally the sizes are small, medium and large. I found the good rating for Outdoor Research M’s Verglas Gaiters  They are comfortable to wear and are often made from nylon, pack cloth or GORETEX providing more durability.

So you should consider gaiters as they will:

Protect your legs from scratches and unwanted debris.

Keep you warm which is great especially in the winter.

Keep you dry which is great in wet weather and for river crossings.

Extra warmth, dry legs/feet and protection are all important on a hike and they all add to your general comfort and the enjoyment of your hike. Make sure you get the right size and durable Hiking Gaiters.
